You're my Obsession...for today
Today I re-discovered a musical artist I had somewhat forgotten about. Back in 1992 I was working at a little indie records store. ( yes we sold records back then) The resident lesbian ( even the total bitch that she was ) turned me onto some of the most wonderful music. The artist was Jeffrey Gaines. He was signed to Chrysalis Records, who were then known for their roster containing Billy Idol, Pat Benatar, Slaughter and Blondie. Jeffery's self titled debut received rave reviews in all the trade music papers as the new sensitive folk-rock artist on the scene.
In late 2003 I had 4th row tix to see Heart here in Cleveland and lo and behold Ann and Nancy had asked Jeffrey to come over from his hometown in PA. and open for them. I had never seen Jeffrey Gains live before. That nite I watching him play with nothing but an acoustic guitar with the dusk sky and Cuyahoga River flowing behind him. It was an awesome performance and he even spotted me wearing my KISS button up shirt and he starting jamming out "Rock Bottom" from Dressed to Kill.
Today I bought his first cd and latest cd "Toward the Sun". I now remember the artist that once touched me with his lyrics and live performance one more time.
